The Earthquake Timascus ring is made of a multi-alloy titanium called Timascus. After machining, contouring, and polishing I heat the ring with a torch until I reach the colors range I'm looking for. This is known as heat anodizing. I like to think of this process as painting with fire. In reality I'm creating oxide layers on the surface of the metal. Due to the multi-alloy nature of Timascus I must keep track of the color change of both alloys at the same time and keep the inside heated as evenly as the outside without heating the edges too much. Over or under heating means I have to re-polish and start over. It is one of the most enjoyable processes I experience in the shop. Many ring makers are beginning to outsource metal and ceramic blanks to save time and money. Yes we could do that too but handcrafting each ring individually is important to us. We're interested in providing something special to each client.

This ring is approximately 10mm wide and is available in size 7-13.5. If you don't know your size please visit a your local jeweler and get sized. This only takes a few minutes and most jewelers are happy to help you even if you don't buy from them. Please do not guess on your size so that you can start wearing your new ring right away. This ring is made to order and usually takes 4-5 weeks to ship.

NOTE: The oxide layers (colors) can scratch off over time. In general heat anodizing is more durable than electro-anodizing but care must be taken to keep the ring looking nice. Rings can be re-polished and heat anodized for a fee. The colors are representative of a common pattern and color but each forging will have it's own pattern and color combination. Every effort will be made to get very close to the pictures shown here.
